Simon Fraser University Health Sciences Building
Vancouver Coast and Mountains

Equipping our province to provide British Columbians with the skills they need to succeed in our 21st century economy, major investments in post-secondary education have been underway across the province.
At Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, this has included the construction of Blusson Hall, a $57.6 million Health Sciences Building, which brings together a variety of disciplines related to public health.
Blusson Hall exceeds Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver standards with numerous environmentally friendly features, such as a green (planted) roof, sustainable harvested wood products, limited use of off-gassing construction materials, storm-water collection for irrigation, radiant-floor heating and abundant natural light.
The Province funded $34.5 million for design and construction of the nearly 12,000 square metre health sciences building which is a U-shaped facility built around a courtyard. It contains classrooms, teaching and research labs, seminar rooms and a lecture theatre.
Increasing access for students, this investment build’s on Simon Fraser University’s long and respected history of health research and education, bridging together issues of science, public policy and health care practice, and providing students with world class education and training.
