Royal Inland Hospital

Thompson Okanagan

Like other major regional hospitals in centres such as Kelowna and Prince George, Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops plays a vital role in meeting the health care needs of British Columbians living in dozens of B.C. communities. And major enhancements made to the hospital over recent years are strengthening its ability to carry out that role.

In recent years, Royal Inland Hospital has seen two major projects. Nearly $17 million was devoted to a new mental health facility. The Hillside Centre includes a ten-bed psychiatric intensive care unit, a ten-bed secure care unit and a 24-bed geriatric psychiatric care unit.

A second project redeveloped the hospital’s second floor, with $27.5 million in vested in doubling the size and modernizing the hospital’s emergency room and medical imaging departments, plus renovating the space occupied by many other hospital departments.

The goal with all of these investments has been to enhance the hospital’s ability to provide these vital health services. In Kamloops and the other communities served by Royal Inland Hospital, the improvements are noticeable and the difference they’re making is huge.
