Prince George Regional Hospital Redevelopment

Northern

More than two dozen acute care facilities serve the residents of northern British Columbia, but there’s only one major regional referral hospital that’s equipped to provide northerners with a wide range of specialized health services and procedures: Prince George Regional Hospital.

Because it serves such a large area of the province and plays a key role in providing specialized services and medical training, people are especially aware of the hospital’s range of services. So the $50 million hospital redevelopment and upgrade completed in 2004 was most welcome.

The redevelopment transformed the hospital into a modern facility that provides improved diagnosis and treatment for northern residents. These improvements have boosted the recruitment of health professionals to the community.

The redevelopment has been complemented by additional upgrades since 2004, including a new pediatric ward that provides improved family-centred care to seriously ill children in the region.
