Breaking the cycle of homelessness is no simple task, but initiatives like Victoria’s Our Place development are most certainly a step in the right direction.
With $14 million in funding from B.C.’s Homelessness Initiative, Our Place provides 45 units of supportive housing for some of Victoria’s neediest residents.
A broad range of support services are provided to residents and people who frequent the Our Place drop-in centre. These include meals, lockers, washrooms, showers, phones, computers and other services.
The product of cooperation between the local community and all three levels of government, Our Place provides comprehensive, integrated and client-centred support for vulnerable people. By bringing together mental health and addictions services, it provides new hope for people looking for a way off the streets.
