Chase Spirit Square

Thompson Okanagan

The Village of Chase celebrated its 100th birthday with the completion of the Chase Spirit Square, located in Memorial Park near the downtown core.

Located at the southern end of Little Shuswap Lake, Chase got its start as a major centre for the forest industry. Today, the village is known as the western gateway to the recreational splendour of British Columbia’s Shuswap region. The new Chase Spirit Square is just one more asset contributing to the area’s high quality of life and healthy lifestyles.

The spirit square features a band shell constructed from pine beetle wood in the design of a First Nations pit house. It also includes a seating area, enhanced landscaping and pathways, upgraded solar-powered lighting, and playground facilities. First Nations artwork is a prominent part of the Chase Spirit Square.

Spirit Squares are places of festivity and community gathering. Supported by the B.C. Government’s $20 million B.C. Spirit Squares program, they are creating or improving outdoor public meeting and celebration spaces across the province.
