Cariboo Connector

Cariboo

Growth and change in British Columbia’s regions has always driven both economic strength and the need for a world-class transportation system across the province. And that’s exactly what made the need for an improved link between the north and the south of the province. It’s called the Cariboo Connector.

The Cariboo Connector is an upgraded Highway 97 between Prince George and Cache Creek. This route will become a modern four-lane highway that increases safety and decreases travel times while serving as a first class trade and travel corridor between the north and the south.

The first phase of the project is a $200 million, five-year strategy that starts with widening of the most urgent portions of the highway, often in urban areas and around industrial and commercial centres where traffic is particularly congested. Later phases will eventually see the entire highway four lanes wide, at a total cost in the area of $2 billion.

For communities along this 460 kilometre route, the Cariboo Connector means greater safety and new economic opportunity, building on our province’s optimistic and resourceful spirit.
